[It is very hard to forget the details of someone's life when you were trapped in a bubble under the ocean with them. Zuko's life will be something he can seriously never forget.]

[ He's diligent, structured, and a bit thick, and is treating this as if it's Avatar training, mastering one element at a time, rather than playing with many at once like others he's met. He's also found he's having more emotional trouble with his magic than others he's met because of his psychological attachment to the idea of fire magic as part of his identity and being, and the deep unrest that he's unable to do it, which blocks him from doing it at least in his head; it's a sad catch-22 he's caught himself in. His magic is extra tied to his emotions because... well... everything is for Zuko.
He's not a fast learner, or a natural talent at much of anything, but he's a dedicated student who's been busting his ass from dawn til dusk trying to master this new magic. He's determined to get his flames even if they're the last thing he has to learn. But he wants them now, like, yesterday. The idea of training in firebending with Hikaru is somewhat absurd, let alone the idea of Hikaru training Zuko, but he's not kidding about it. Of course he's not. Say yes and Hikaru's dooming himself to wake up before sunrise for this fireless firebitch. He's serious. ]
[Hikaru does know that Zuko is probably going crazy without his firebending (technically not firebending but whatever) and he definitely understands because Zuko's never not been passionate in talking about his flame.

cuz then youll get tired faster if you start when its already that hot and its better to get an early start in the day anyway just like in general... you get more accomplished
