[Hikaru is very unhappy about having to go this far but by now, Taichi should know that it isn't hard to get Hikaru annoyed and one shouldn't take it too seriously. He's even a little impressed that Taichi can open the door like that and then he's just touched when he sees everything that Taichi did.]

[There goes his heart and he hasn't even seen the present. For Hikaru, it's usually not about the gift. After all, being rich (back home) doesn't mean much for gifts. You can get anything you want at any time of the year. But the actions always speak much louder.]
[ The present is important to Taichi in this case. Not because it's an item, but because of what it represents which... Hikaru will figure out soon enough.]
Yeah. It's not much but I'm not going to wake you up this early and not give you fresh food.
[ Taichi sets out one of the pillows for Hikaru to sit down on first, then drapes one of the blankets over his shoulders so he's warm, then finally does the same for himself. He opens up the basket and pulls out a reusable water bottle first and places it in front of Hikaru. ]
Part one! I got this water from the river near the bridge during the purification ceremony. It is the purest possible water in Avalon that you can only obtain once a year.
[This is just the start but Hikaru is already placated about having to get up this early.
Right now it's only water but Taichi had gone out of his way to get him the purest water imaginable because Hikaru had talked about how they got their drinking water from a pure spring. Though it wasn't anything this crazy. A lot of families got their water from the same place but Taichi's always so surprised by Hikaru's lifestyle that going this far makes sense.

[ He smiles sheepishly. He may not be in charge of the party, but Taichi's taken the advice to take a long time planning it to heart. He's been slowly gathering the parts for this birthday celebration for some time. ]
Part 2 is breakfast. I still don't have a stove, so it's takeout but it's from that really nice place near the castle. So it's a... [ Give him a second, he's scrunching his eyebrows as he takes it out so he can get the pronunciation right. He practiced it. ]
Souffle-style omelet with champagne hollandaise sauce, caviar, and fresh asparagus served on top of crispy pan-fried toast.
[ They don't serve Hikaru's favorite food that he mentioned before for breakfast, so Taichi wasn't able to find it and instead went for the fanciest thing he could find. And again, saved up for it because this is (to him) a pretty pricy breakfast. Taichi is down with bagel bites, this is like a $50 omelet because of the like, tablespoon of caviar. ]
We get to watch the sunrise while we eat, then you can open your present and I'll let you go back to sleep if you want.
[ He takes out a thermos with oatmeal in it for himself, since he definitely couldn't afford two fancy omelets. ]
[It may be bad if Taichi cooked considering the last time that he made something for Hikaru.
When Hikaru listens to Taichi try to say the food he got him, he covers his mouth because holy shit, Taichi is cute and it's too much. He doesn't think that somebody has gotten him such a nice present before. Not in monetary worth but simply in the thought out into it. ]
How romantic. [He moves next to Taichi to put his head on Taichi's shoulder to nuzzle him there, the only tell that he's happy.
But when he sees that Taichi only got himself oatmeal, he rolls his eyes and tugs him close.] Eat the food with me. It's too early for me to eat all of this anyway.
[ Taichi turns his head to press kisses to Hikaru's forehead as he nuzzles. He's really happy with how this is turning out because he thinks Hikaru is. ]
Happy birthday, Hikaru.
[ He sets the oatmeal aside and starts getting out the utensils (actual metal at least, even if they aren't fancy, but they're better than plastic takeout ones). ]
[Hikaru had been joking when he said it was romantic but this really did feel romantic. This feels like one of the most romantic things they've done and it's all because Taichi wanted to do something nice for Hikaru's birthday.
And that really makes it more special.]

I could still be sexy if I wanted to. Lucky for you it's too early for me to want to even try. [Honestly, getting sexy on the roof seems like a bad idea anyway.
He opens his mouth and leans in to take a bite off of the fork. As he chews thoughtfully, he isn't unhappy.] Not too bad. Quality is at least good.
Burn it into your brain, but I'll tell you whenever you want.
[ He's going to lean forward to kiss his cheek, but there's a fork with food on it, so he diverts his path to take a bit, even making an "omn" sound as he puts his mouth over it. He hums happily as he chews. ]
Mm.. it reminds me of something Omi-kun would make! [ One day, Hikaru will realize that Taichi has been basically living off of a gourmet chef and a curry expert back home and still likes junk food like a heathen. ]
[Hikaru has believed this entire time that maybe, just maybe, if he introduces Taichi to good quality then he can change his diet for the better. Like sure, Taichi has mentioned Omi makes him food but in Hikaru's mind, unless you're rich, then what could he possibly be making? Probably not anything that amazing, right?]
Not all day, but he'd make all kinds of different things since cooking was one of his passions. He's make like, quiche and fancy desserts, and one time he showed me how to make roses out of tomatoes.
[ He could definitely be a culinary chef... but he's going to college for photography, and acting as a job, living in the theater. Thank god, or else they'd be eating curry day in and out. ]
He makes good omelettes, too, but I don't think he used all the fancy stuff in this.
[Hikaru takes his bite as he thinks over what Taichi's telling him. Fancy, for Taichi, is very different than what Hikaru considers fancy. But from everything else, it doesn't sound like the same basic food that Taichi likes of low quality...]

Eh? Well, usually Omi-kun's food. I can't have hot dogs all the time. It's more like.. as a food type, hot dogs and other meats are my favorite. But if Omi is cooking, then his food is better.

[Hikaru swallows his bite and laughs, not even bothering to mute himself even if it's stupidly early. Neither of them are being very polite considering their volume.]
Oh? [He's grinning, amused.] Saying lines like that while you feed me and we sit on a roof, watching the sunrise on my birthday. I could swoon~ My boyfriend's so romantic, making my heart race like this. [He leans in close and puts his head on Taichi's shoulder.] Taichi-senpai is so cool.
