besides not every animal is named for its looks compared to other animals
we have just cats, not only cat-owls and crococats.... just for example

because nothing else looks like an ostrich-horse it just is what it is!! nothing else shares its name
and anyway all kinds of cats are cute even crococats are kind of cute
ostriches look crazy
