He looks around, at how the decorations placed, and Hikaru has fired plenty of party planners for lesser offenses. It isn't decorated well at all but Hikaru isn't blind to the obvious effort that Taichi put in. He looks to the food, to the two bottles, and realizes this is for them.
And Hikaru feels that familiar rush of emotion he knows now is his crush. Hikaru has to remind himself that Taichi's his friend and he would do this for anybody. That's the kind of person he is. Whatever this place wants from them shouldn't make him forget that Taichi is his friend. He can't ruin that.
